Play with a team that has a good clutch player such as LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony (Heat and Nuggets, respectively). Turning your block and steal percentages to 100 will also make this a lot easier. I suggest turning all the shot percentage ones up to 100 and possibly lower them for the opposition. Set the difficulty to Rookie and change the sliders to your advantage. While it can be done with a second controller, this is very easy against an altered CPU. The fabled Buzzer Beater, the shot that makes teams and fans alike go ballistic at the end of a game if it goes in. Can be done with two controllers and rules adjusted (shot clock off). Sliders can be adjusted and difficulty altered. This must be done in a game with at least 5 minute quarters. Expect to achieve this somewhere around the end of the first season/start of the second. Other than that, invest in stats that are vital to your particular play style to improve your game on-court. To raise your overall rating faster, investing in Offensive and Defensive awareness is amazing for gaining points quickly.

I recommend only doing the shooting drill because it is by far the easiest to get Gold on, giving you 400 skill points as well as a free attribute upgrade. Career milestones such as scoring so many points in your career or recording X amount of steals in a single game will give hefty bonuses. Game performance with an A+ will probably bring in anything between 250 and 500 points and completing all objectives for that particular game will give you 300 points.
